The food industry is essentially premised on promoting relentless consumption through underpricing resources and externalizing cost. What happens is the constant suppression on the ability of people to produce good food because right from the supermarket, there is a desire to make things cheap so people can consume more. Ultimately then you have a food industry, industrialized, that aids and abets that with all sorts of additives. People in the wider food chain therefore start to cheat. We have a race to the bottom. It's a worldwide phenomenon.
